Out of Hours and Emergencies

For health information and advice, or if you need medical help fast when we are closed, call NHS 111. NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it’s not a life threatening emergency.

Outside normal surgery hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays) emergency cover for the practice is provided by NEMS Community Benefit Services Ltd Out of Hours service. The Out of Hours service provides medical care for patients that do not need Emergency Department Care. It is a service that is led by a range of clinical staff such as GPs, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Emergency Care Practitioners.

This service is for problems which cannot wait until the next available surgery. You will be required to provide full information about your problem and will be expected if required to attend Platform One Practice (based on Station Street, Nottingham) if necessary. Advice may also be given if attending for a face to face appointment is not deemed to be required.

Evening and Weekend Appointments

You can now book routine GP and Nurse appointments in the evening, at weekends and over bank holidays in your local area.

Pre-bookable appointments are available Monday-Friday, 6.30pm-8pm, plus weekends and bank holidays and you can be seen by a GP, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant.

Urgent Care Centre in Nottingham

The CityCare NHS Urgent Care Centre is based at Seaton House, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 4LA.

The NHS Urgent Care Centre will offer assessment and treatment for health conditions that are urgent but non life-threatening such as:

Minor burns and scalds, minor head injury with no loss of consciousness, skin infections and animal bites, suspected broken bones, sprains (X-ray available), eye infections and minor eye injuries.

The Centre is not appropriate for: Non-urgent health problems that could be seen by your GP or a Pharmacist/routine services such as blood tests or suture (‘stitches’) removal

The service is open every day between 7am and 9pm, with no appointment needed.

You can call 0115 8838500 for directions and current waiting time, but medical advice over the telephone is not provided.

Patients who have a minor illness or wound dressing services at the weekend, should contact Oakenhall Medical Practice (Telephone 0115 963 3511 Monday – Friday) between the hours of 8am to 6.30pm or call NHS 111 (Monday – Friday or at weekends) between the hours of 6.30pm to 8am, if you want to talk about your symptoms over the telephone.

An NHS dental nurse is available on-site that can provide free advice on dental problems however consultation with the Dentist is chargeable. The Dental Nurse is available from 8.30am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 12.30pm saturday and Bank Holidays.

Your local pharmacy can also offer you a range of services, including free expert and confidential advice including treatment for very minor illness and injuries including colds, eczema, hay fever, aches and pains.and medications to relieve the symptoms of minor ailments.
