TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS

If you wish to speak to the Doctor or Nurse regarding a health matter and do not need to attend the surgery, please contact the reception team who will be happy to book for you to receive a telephone consultation after doctor has finished his clinic.

IMMUNISATIONS

The Practice Nurse carries out all the Patient immunisations from child hood vaccinations, travel vaccinations, Influenza and Swine Flu vaccinations, HPV Cervical Cancer vaccinations and many more. These are carried out during normal routine appointments with the Nurse.

ANTENATAL CLINIC

This clinic is held every Wednesday morning. If you think you may be pregnant please obtain an early morning specimen of urine (the first you pass in the morning). This sample can then be used to carry out a pregnancy test available from the chemist. If your test is positive, the first step is to arrange to see the doctor to have your pregnancy confirmed. You will then be made the relevant ‘booking’ appointment with the midwife for your antenatal care.

POST NATAL CLINIC

This clinic is held every Thursday after morning surgery. The six week post natal check is carried out by the doctor. This clinic is held by appointment only and letters are sent out in advance.

MINOR SURGERY CLINIC

Small lumps, bumps, skin lesions are often treatable at the surgery by minor surgical procedures. Wart and Verrucae cryo-therapy are also available. Joint injections are also carried out at the Practice by the doctor. Please make a routine appointment for an initial assessment and you will then receive a letter inviting you to attend a minor operation clinic. These are normally held on a Friday morning.

CHAPERONE

Please note, if you are having an intimate examination, a chaperone can be provided. All reception staff are trained chaperones. This service is available to both female and male patients. Please ask a member of the reception team for details.

HEALTH PROMOTIONS

It is our policy to encourage the prevention of illness and we invite patients for health checks. These checks are carried out by the Practice Nurse in routine appointments.

We offer the following services:

New patient check, menopause, contraception checks, cervical smears, well woman checks, well man checks and regular checks for patients who are managing chronic illnesses such as diabetes, epilepsy etc. In respect of the chronic disease management, patients receive a letter from the Practice inviting them to make an appointment for their relevant checks. If a patient has multiple problems, it may be possible to coincide the checks, but unfortunately this cannot always happen and it may be that you will need to attend at different times for different checks.

The Practice Nurse also offers a smoking cessation service and a weight loss programme. If you would like further details please ask at reception.

The Practice Nurse will also advise patients in respect of vaccinations they require to travel out of the country and will administer vaccinations required. Some vaccinations however do incur a charge. Please allow at least 6 weeks for your vaccinations to be carried out before you travel.
